Paris Saint-Germain vs Monaco Match Preview, Team News, Lineups

Paris Saint-Germain will be looking for their first win in four games when they host AS Monaco in the Ligue 1 action at Parc des Princes, in Paris, on Sunday night (IST).

What competition it is? Ligue 1
Teams: Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco
Kick Off: Monday 22 April
Match Timing: 12:30 AM (IST)
Where the game is played? Parc des Princes (47,929)

The once indomitable, all invincible Paris Saint-Germain are now looking a mere shadow of the team which was backed to end the league campaign unbeaten.

Not only that, Paris Saint-Germain threw away a golden chance to win the league title in record time after going on a three-game winless run which reads as follows: a 2-2 draw against Strasbourg, a 5-1 loss against Lille and the 3-2 defeat versus Nantes in the last match.

There is no danger of bottling the league as PSG sit a huge 17 points adrift of Lille in second place. But a reaction is needed from the champions whose pride was broken to many pieces by the 5-1 humbling at the hand of Lille.

“This is not the time to focus on Lille’s result but to focus on ourselves. I expect a reaction from us against Monaco, a full match in which we show a mentality in line with our ambitions,” Tuchel was quoted as saying ahead of the match.

“Sunday it will be absolutely necessary to show our hunger to win and show we can play as a team. This is the only challenge that drives us.”

The last time PSG failed to win three games in a row was in 2016, so this is some trend PSG have broken here. But you have to go all the way back to 2012 when the Parisians failed to win in the four games.

But PSG are aiming for the ultimate glory in Ligue 1 while the same can’t be said about the 2016-17 champions Monaco. For they are still in the relegation zone.
